Alchemy/Schmalchemy perform an improvised sonic response to the graphic scores, which form part of an artwork produced by Contrat Social (from the Institute Supérieur des Beaux-Arts de Besançon) currently featured in the Re-Imagining Citizenship exhibition.

Geoff Bright, Walt Shaw and Gillian Whiteley have been improvising with various instruments/ objects/ materials as Alchemy/Schmalchemy since 2009. Geoff is Research Fellow at the Education and Social Research at Manchester Metropolitan University, Walt is a percussionist and visual and performance artist based in the Midlands, Gillian is Senior Lecturer in Art History and Visual Culture at School of the Arts, Loughborough University.
